Delicious Makan Trail In Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia! Part 3 (Kedai Makanan Minuman Ah Soon 阿顺猪杂汤)

Our next destination was supposedly a heavenly tasting snack but our roving eyes caught a crowded kopitiam selling fish head beehoon shop, Kedai Makanan Minuman Ah Soon 阿顺猪杂汤. Needless to say, the gluttony part of us detoured from the original route and we dashed swiftly to it.

Everything was steaming up here.
There’s already a good crowd and we have to wait but we didn’t mind as it gave us some time to digest.

There’s a very strong whiff of belachan smell in the chilli dip but it didn’t not taste overpowering.

Our orders: One with noodles and the other without.

At MYR4 a bowl, the noodles came with copious mix of fresh fish and pork slices, coarse-minced meat and pork liver.
This steamy bowl with instant noodles had cloudy-looking (probably from the starch of the noodles) and less tangy broth.

Everything was super fresh!

With just secondary ingredients sans noodles,  also at MYR4 a bowl, the broth was clearer and lighter-tasting.
It was also slightly more tangy (citrusy sour from the tomatoes and plums used in steaming fish) than the one with noodles.

All of us agreed that this unexpected discovery was a gem although Tony found the soup slightly oily. I’ll give it a try with a bowl of rice next time 🙂
